Year 8 AAP students have been researching and designing pre-game meals as part of their nutrition topic. Student were then able to get into the kitchen and create the meals they had designed.

Netball

The Student Athletes in the SSP Netball program have been entrenched in watching and analysing vision of SSN Netball games and focusing in on defensive structures. In education classes we have been looking closely at the differences between one on one defence and unit/zone defence structures and then applying this knowledge to our court sessions. We have also had a strong focus on match play and applying these specific skills to on court play in preparation for SSV competitions coming up in the next few weeks for our Junior Girls & Boys teams.

This week, our Year 9-12 students had a guest speaker, past Australian Gymnast and AIS Athlete Elly Bayes, come and present an excellent Mental Health Fitness & Wellbeing program. Elly talked in detail about connections and relationships and how they impact our mental fitness and the importance of surrounding ourselves with positive connections all around us, whether that be at school, home, sport etc. We elaborated on how our program connects the students together, with coaches and support staff. This linked in beautifully to the work students have been doing with The Resilience Project and reiterated the important key takeaway that connection and relationships are crucial to our everyday happiness and mental wellbeing.

We look forward to continuing to work hard on court and in the gym in the coming weeks and keep extending the player’s netball knowledge in our education classes to bring our best to the upcoming SSV Competitions and club netball.
