Library Borrowing/Returns

Students can borrow up to 5 books at a time, for a 2 week duration.  Reminder emails and notices on Compass are sent to students when books are overdue, prompting them to return or renew.  We do not charge overdue fees, but long overdue books (months) will incur a replacement fee.  Parents will be contacted via Compass regarding this.

Library @Lunchtime

Join in our library activities on Monday, Wednesday and Friday lunchtimes when we have 'Mindful Monday' which includes some 'mindful' activities or quiet reading; Wednesday Games with chess and Uno; Friday 'Book Bites Club'.

UNO Tournament

We held our first UNO Tournament and it was a highly contested set of games with 24 entrants.  Students played in groups of 6 and the 4 finalists had a tightly fought game with Ned (Year 9) coming out as the winner.  Well done to all and we can look forward to another tournament next term.

Chess Tournament

Our first 2024 Chess Tournament is in progress with the semi-final and Grand Final being held shortly.  Once again some tough games with 2 first round games being drawn.

Thank you in particular to Leon Dorembus for helping to organise this and also for his adjudication skills and willingness to mentor other players.

MWF 2024 Excursion

"On the 7th of May, I went to the Melbourne Writers Festival (MFW) to see four authors, Mike Lucas, a horror writer; Biffy James, who recently wrote her first novel; Steve Mushin, and Astrid Scholte, talk about writing. Unfortunately, due to an incident on the train, we missed most of the first two authors and only arrived in time for the end of questions for Mike Lucas. Thankfully we were still able to purchase their books and get them signed. After lunch at the food court near Melbourne Central Station, we went back to the State Library and watched Steve Mushin’s talk about Re-Wilding and Astrid Scholte’s talk about her journey to becoming a published author. I really enjoyed the day, despite missing one of the authors that I wanted to see. " Kaya (Year 8)

Book Review

Amari and the Night Brothers – B.B Alston

By Kaya (Year 8)

5/5 stars

I absolutely loved this book. It was the perfect mix of fantasy and real life, relatable, experiences. I loved the way that the story was set out and there were enough plot twists to keep it interesting, but not too ridiculously unexpected. The way that it was written was great, and I thought that the underlying messages about racism and prejudice were masterfully written in.

Year 7 Historians

This term the Year 7 Individuals & Society classes have been delving through the school archiving looking at 'primary' and 'secondary' sources of information.  In the process they have discovered some of the history of the College as well as a few relatives who have been past students.
