A Special Gift from a Former Student

Abigail Austin - "The Girl Who Became a Tree"

Dear Kempsey High School Community,

I have the pleasure of sharing a heartwarming story that exemplifies the spirit of inspiration and achievement within our school community.

I recently received a thoughtful gift from a former student of Kempsey High. The gift, a children’s book titled "The Girl Who Became a Tree," was authored by none other than our talented alumna, Abigail Austin. This marks her second published book, following her debut work, which proudly resides in our school library.

Abigail's generosity in donating her book stems from her desire to inspire current and future students at Kempsey High to pursue their dreams relentlessly. Through her own journey of studying acting and writing, Abigail has demonstrated that students from our school are capable of achieving remarkable feats. She has not only pursued her passions but has also used her talents to traverse the globe.

During her travels, Abigail's life took an unexpected turn as she met and fell in love with a man from Spain. Today, she resides in Spain with her husband and son, embodying the beautiful intersection of love and adventure. Additionally, Abigail has delved into the realm of podcasting and has emerged as a fervent climate activist, using her platform to advocate for a better world.

On behalf of Kempsey High School, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to Abigail Austin for her generous donation and for being a shining example of what our students can achieve. Her story serves as a beacon of hope and encouragement, reminding us all to pursue our passions with unwavering determination.

Let us join together in celebrating Abigail's accomplishments and in embracing the limitless potential that resides within each and every one of us.

Warm regards,

Sharyn Rix, Head Teacher of English, Kempsey High School
