Mother's Day Movie 

Wednesday 8 May - 5pm to 6.30pm | The Farrall Centre

All students and their families are warmly invited to our Mother's Day event to celebrate their Mum, Guardian, Grandparent or special family friend. This is a free event and is accessible to all students and their families. This year we will be offering a viewing of the family favourite Paddington, along with complimentary ice cream and popcorn treats.

The Friends' School Fair

The Fair is this Saturday! 12pm to 3pm on the Argyle Street Campus.

Event Information

  • Access to the Fair for pedestrians is available via Argyle Street and Boa Vista Road marked entrances (please refer to the map).
  • We recommend bringing cash and bank cards, as some vendors will only accept cash and others will have card facilities. If you forget to bring cash we will have an ATM machine and change facilities at the Fair HQ, both located in The Farrall Centre Foyer. 
  • If you are planning on purchasing a drink at the bar, we also recommend you bring your ID.  Please note that no alcohol can be consumed outside of The Farrall Centre.
  • To reduce our waste we are asking families to please bring reusable bags for their purchases, or alternatively  you can purchase a reusable calico bag from our Kindergarten Stall in The Middle School Foyer. We also ask you to bring a Keep Cup for beverage purchases and take care in disposing of your waste. We will have 3 types of bins; general waste, recycling and composting, if you have any questions about which bin to use please ask a staff member.
  • There will be no parking on site (excluding disabled access parking). Please make sure to allow enough to time find a suitable and safe place to park. There will be a drop off and pick-up zone located at the Argyle Street drop off area, however, please be aware that a parent will need to be accompanying children at all times during the Fair. 
  • This event will be photographed and filmed.  If you do not want your image taken, please advise a staff member or the photographer.
  • The School campus is a smoke-free zone at all times.
  • Please note dogs will not be permitted onsite (excluding assistance dogs).

Parents and guardians will be required to supervise their children throughout the event.

The Friends' School Fair - Volunteers & Donations

Thank you to those families and students who have volunteered and donated items. We have received sufficient donations of books, board games, uniform and wine, however we are still taking donations of baked goods, plants and succulents.

 

Bake and Cake Stall

Cake packs (plate, wrap, instructions) are available from The Friends’ School Main Reception (23 Commercial Road, North Hobart) and School Offices. Delivery of baked goods will open from 8:15am - 9am and 3pm - 4:30pm Friday 3 May at The Farrall Centre Box Office desk in the Foyer or on the morning of the event.

Twilight Concert

Wednesday 15 May | 6pm

Year 12 Utas Music Performance students will be performing in the second Twilight Concert for the year. This will be held in the Farrall Center. All are welcome to attend.

Music Ensembles

Co-curricular music ensembles have kicked off. If your child is interested in joining one of our many ensembles, please encourage them to talk to a member of the music staff; they will be able to suggest an ensemble appropriate to their instrument and experience. The ensemble rehearsal schedule is here.

Quaker Meetings for Worship

All members of The Friends’ School community are welcome to attend our Meeting for Worship any Sunday from 10.00am, closing about 11.00am, with morning tea available afterwards.

 

Children are always welcome and there is a Children’s Meeting held concurrently with the Meeting for Worship. They learn about Quaker values through a range of interesting and fun activities. Around 10.50am the children join the Meeting for Worship, settling into the gathered Meeting for the last 10 minutes, usually sitting with their parents.

Thursday Morning Meeting for Worship

Members of The Friends' School community are welcome to attend a short Meeting for Worship held each Thursday morning during term time, starting at 7.45am. Just come quietly in when you can and join us until 8.20am in the Hobart Quaker Meeting House, which is located just below the Clemes office on Boa Vista Road.

Community Yoga

Wednesdays 7.45am - 8.15am | Hodgkin Hall

 

An inspiring way to start your day with energising movement, focused breathing and a moment for relaxation and stillness.  All members of the school community are welcome to attend and no prior yoga experience is necessary. 

 

Julia will meet you outside the door on the Carr Street side of the Senior School at 7.40am. If you would like more information contact our school Yoga teacher Julia Gibson.
