Year 5/6 - Senior Unit

Welcome back to Term 2. This term promises to be an exceptionally busy one.  Keep your eye out for dates and notices within Compass as these are just some of the events coming up in the Senior Unit:

We hope you enjoyed the break which was accompanied by some lovely Autumn weather. The Senior Unit teachers have been really pleased with how calm and settled the students have returned to their learning. 

Within our Inquiry Unit, we are learning about ‘Renewable & Non-Renewable Energy’. This Unit lends itself to hands-on science activities which we are confident the children will enjoy.

The students are really excited about writing their information reports on a topic of their choice. They will be presenting these to their peers later in the Term, as well as a science expo (date TBD) where the students will showcase their knowledge to parents and the school community.

Camp 

Parents will have received information regarding our Senior Unit Camp via Compass. This year we will be taking both the Year 5s and 6s to PGL Campaspe Downs. Here they will have the opportunity to take part in a number of adventure activities, as well as build on their independence and team-building skills. We will be leaving on Thursday 27th June  and returning on Friday 28th June, which are the last 2 days of Term 2. 

A paper copy of the ‘Confidential Medical Information Form’ will be sent home today. This form contains details such as dietary requirements and other ‘camp specific’ medical conditions. If you could please send it back at your earliest convenience that would be much appreciated.

We are also seeking a number of parent helpers to come on camp to assist. If you would like to attend the camp (and hold a Working with Children check). Please contact Mr. Spilsted at nathan.spilsted@education.vic.gov.au.
