YEAR 7 REFLECTION DAY

MRS CATHERINE SMITH - CURRICULUM LEADER RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

The Year 7 Reflection Day took place on Tuesday the 23rd of April. The Reflection Day aims to provide students with an opportunity to reflect on who they are with one another and reflect on the value of friendship in their lives.

This year's theme was "I am God's Creation" with a focus on Identity, Friendship, and Communication. They started the day with a Mary MacKillop performance that tied in with the work they completed last term. The performance was engaging and funny, it was fantastic to see students volunteer to be involved in different parts. They then caught buses down to the Swan Hill Soccer League clubrooms for the rest of the program.

There was a very energetic game of football that took place at recess and lunchtime, thanks to Mr Hirst for taking up the umpire whistle. After recess the students completed their first session on Identity, students looked at outer identity and inner identity and how we are all made by God and individuals in our own ways.

In the second session, we focussed on Friendship and what it means to be a good friend. We finished with communication and how good communication is important in relationships. Students discussed what to do when they are faced with challenges and how to communicate with others.

We ended the day with a reflective prayer that allowed students to think about their connection with God and how they want to be seen in the eyes of God. A big thank you to all the staff who were part of the day and those that helped to organise.
