Child Safety and Wellbeing

Child Safe Information

St Brigid’s College holds the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility. Central to the mission of the school is an absolute commitment to fostering the dignity, self-esteem and integrity of children and young people and providing them with a safe, supportive and enriching environment to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.

Our Child Safety Policy details and affirms the standards of behaviour expected for members of the St Brigid’s College community.

Thank you!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to local businesses Plant Haven (Haven General Store-) and UP TEMPO CAFE for their donations of $10 vouchers for our monthly positive behaviour draw. See below for information on School Wide Positive Behaviour Support.

If you are involved in a local business and would like to donate some vouchers, please get in contact with the Front Office on (03) 5382 3545 or info@stbc.vic.edu.au.

Recently, our College began a journey of embedding School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) across the school. SWPBS is an evidence-based framework for preventing and responding to behaviour problems in schools. It aims to create a positive school climate, a culture of student competence and an open, responsive management system for school leaders, staff students and parents/carers (Sugai and Horner 2002).

Most recently, we have developed a process in acknowledging students for displaying positive behaviours. This will help us recognise those students who consistently meet the behaviour expectations and help us communicate this to parents and guardians.

We launched this with our students last week. Students who obtain a commendation go into a draw to win a voucher at a local community business. This week's winners were Archie Sostheim (Year 9) and Enid Knight (Year 9). Well done to all students who receive commendations and thank you to Plant Haven and Up Tempo for donating the vouchers.
