SENIOR SCHOOL

Dear Senior School Parents/Carers and Students

It has been a busy and positive Term 3 on the Senior Campus, filled with numerous activities that truly highlight the wonderful spirit and unity of our school community. As we reflect on the past few months, we are proud to share some of the key events and achievements that have shaped this term for our Year 11 and 12 students.

Senior School Course Counselling and Subject / Tertiary Expo and VCE VM Taster Day

The transition from Year 10 to 11 and Year 11 to 12 is a pivotal moment in a student's educational journey. We would like to extend our gratitude to all parents, carers, and students for their active participation and diligent preparation during our Senior School Course Counselling sessions. These sessions, along with the Senior School Subject and Tertiary Expo and the VCE / VCE VM Taster Day, have played a crucial role in setting the foundation for our students' future studies. A big thank you goes to our dedicated course counselling team. Special recognition goes to Mrs Jessica Bambridge for leading the careers and pathways initiatives, and to Mrs Sharon Bourne, our Year 12 Careers Practitioner, for her unwavering support to our Year 12 students as they embark on their post-secondary school journeys.

VCAA VCE Leaders Award

Congratulations to Kelly Gilbert (School Captain) who was recognised Friday as one of the top eight Leadership students in Victoria. Kelly was interviewed by VCAA CEO Stephen Gniel where she spoke about her leadership work at Frankston High School. Kelly was very impressive, we are incredibly proud of how she represented herself and our school community.

Celebrating 100 Days of Success for Year 12

On Monday14 August, we celebrated a significant milestone for our Year 12 cohort - their 100 days of success. The event, which included a BBQ and an inspiring talk by Declan Fay, was organized by the Year 12 Team. Our heartfelt thanks go to Mrs Carla Caminiti, Mrs Kelly Mitchell, Mrs Brittany Harvey, and Mr Ryan Jones for their dedicated efforts in making this celebration memorable for our wonderful Year 12 cohort.

Year 11 Student Engagement Initiatives

Our Year 11 leaders have been hard at work devising activities to foster student connectedness during Semester 2. A recent example was the engaging pull-up challenge, hosted on Thursday 24 August by the Year 11 leaders in collaboration with Mr Shaun Rodan, Mr Mitchell Land and Ms Kerryn Elrick. Such initiatives play a pivotal role in creating a sense of unity and camaraderie among our students.

Awareness on Gambling Consequences

Former Melbourne AFL footballer David Schwarz delivered an impactful presentation to our Senior Students on Monday 21 August. His talk focused on shedding light on the detrimental consequences of gambling and its impact on individuals' lives and their relationships. This presentation was an essential learning opportunity for our students.

Central Australia / Darwin Year 11 Tour

We would like to wish the 80 Year 11 students who embarked on the Central Australia/Darwin tour all the best for a fantastic trip.  They departed from Frankston High School at 11.00am on Thursday 7 September and return at 1.30am on Saturday 23 September. We are sure they will have wonderful time and will have life-long memories of this adventure.  A special thank you to Mrs Anne Thomson who has overseen the organisation of this tour, Mrs Jodie Burton and Ms Kerryn Elrick and all staff attending the trip for their excellent work in ensuring the trip is an outstanding success.

Year 12 Practice Examinations and Preparation

Looking ahead, the September Holidays mark a critical phase for our Year 12 students as they undertake the important and compulsory Practice Examinations from Thursday 21 September to Thursday 28 September. We extend our appreciation to our dedicated Year 12 teachers for their unwavering support in preparing our students for these examinations and the end of year VCAA Examinations. As students gear up for their VCAA exams, including the oral exams on Wednesday 18 October and English exams on Tuesday 24 October, and continue until Wednesday 15 November, we encourage them to utilise their September break effectively for revision and self-care. We also emphasise the importance of attending revision lectures to maximise their preparedness.
