ALUMNI Program

Alumni Program Update

The Alumni Program has really taken off in Term 3 with 15 alumni returning to school to speak to students about their pathway after high school, university studies and their job.

Starting with a Science Alumni panel in early August, we showcased a range of Science jobs in recognition of National Science Week. Panelists included: Meg Runacres (Class of 2014), Beth Piscopo (Class of 2015), Dylan Stafford (Class of 2015), Jess Thompson (Class of 2015) and Sarah Arshid (Class of 2018). Students gained insight into different Science pathways and learnt that each alum took a different path and had unique experiences, that helped them to shape their career in Science.

The Year 11 Agency sessions in August featured alumni from broad range of careers, students selected the alumni whose job most interested them, each session included a Q&A section and opportunities for students to ask questions.

  1. The alumni involved in Week 1 included: Georgia Spokes (Class of 1994), Ben Milton (Class of 2015), Adrian Hume (Class of 2015), Abram Poznanski (Class of 2016) and Oscar Cooke-Abbott (Class of 2016). These sessions gave students great insight into Medicine pathways, Journalism, Finance and Engineering jobs
  2. Week 2 sessions featured another fabulous group of alumni, including the following careers: Occupational Therapy, Civil Engineering, Defence Force, Graphic Design and Marketing/Communications. The alumni involved were Ashleigh Alsadie (Class of 2002), Daniel Frantz (Class of 2002), Jack Burley (Class of 2012), Liana Deslandes (Class of 2013) and Evie Masse (Class of 2017).

Students enjoyed these sessions and benefitted from learning about the careers that they are considering for their future, hearing from real-life people who do these jobs and even more meaningful given they are alumni of our school.

Alumni involved in these sessions believe in the notion of ‘going back to give back’ and evidenced this by sacrificing their time to share their stories and inspire students. We are proud of their career achievements and look forward to welcoming them back to Frankston High School again along with many more from the alumni community. The alumni voice is a positive and powerful one and we will continue to connect with the alumni to further develop our school community and enrich the student experience at Frankston High School.
