What an exciting start to Term 4 in PE, here are some of the highlights!

Whitehorse Division & Eastern Regional Athletics

Congratulations to all our 35 students who competed in the Whitehorse Division & Eastern Regional Athletics finals over the past fortnight, we are so proud of how all these students represented Rangeview in their events with lots of the students placing on the podium! Thank you to our wonderful parent community for your support of the students throughout these days. Go Rangeview!!

Hoop Time Regional Finals

In the last fortnight, both our Level 3/4 Girls All-Star team and Level 3/4 Mixed Future Stars team competed in the Eastern Regional Hoop Time finals at Dandenong Stadium and The State Basketball Centre. Both teams showed tremendous resilience, skill, and determination throughout their days. This is a credit to all the training and hard work they have put in throughout the year. Congratulations, firstly, to our Girls' team, who went through the day undefeated, winning the Grand Final by 16 points against Mount Eliza PS. The girls will now progress to the State Final in December. GOOD LUCK! Congratulations also to our Mixed Team, who made it all the way to the Semi-final, narrowly going down in overtime. Thank you, once again, to our amazing parent community for their assistance in driving, scoring, and supporting on both of the days.

Regional Futsal Championships

Congratulations to our Level 6 Boys' team who competed in the Futsal Championships at Springvale Leisure Center earlier this week. The boys did the school proud, demonstrating teamwork, determination, skill, and commitment throughout the day. They managed to progress all the way to the final, narrowly going down to one of the best teams in the State. A huge thank you to a former Rangeview student, Ty Grix, who coached the boys on the day, and to Yoanna for again assisting in transporting the students to and from the venue. We really appreciate all the support of our wonderful families.

Division Basketball & Volleyball

Last week, our Level 5/6 Boys' Basketball and Girls' Volleyball teams competed in the Whitehorse Division finals at Mullum Mullum Stadium. Both teams demonstrated great effort throughout the day, achieving some impressive results. Overall, the boys were the winners of the day and will progress to the Regional finals next week. The girls also had a successful day, finishing 3rd overall. Thank you again to our wonderful families for all your support at both events. Good luck to the boys at the Regional Finals! Go Rangeview.

State and National achievements

At Rangeview, we have a wonderful range of students who compete in a wide variety of sports outside of school. We want to acknowledge some amazing achievements by Rangeview students over the last week.

Firstly, Isaac W in Level 4 competed in the National finals in Perth for Taekwondo last week. In this extremely high level of competition, we are proud to announce that Isaac was crowned National Champion, coming home with a gold medal. Great job, Isaac!

Next, we had Lucas X in Level 5 who competed in the Victorian finals for fencing over the weekend. Once again, in this extremely high level of competition, Lucas was crowned State Champion, coming home with a gold medal. Congratulations, Lucas!

Next, we also had Oscar J in Level 3 who competed in the Victorian finals for Gymnastics over the weekend. Oscar performed extremely well in multiple events on the day and came home with a bronze medal. What a fantastic performance, Oscar!

PE Program

This term in our PE sessions, we are focusing on the skills of striking and participating in racquet sports & bat and ball games across the school. Students are participating in sports such as Badminton, Tennis, T-Ball, and Cricket, developing their skills and learning to play, umpire, and strategise in these different sports. During Friday Sports, our Level 5/6s will again be competing in the House Cup tournament, while our 3/4s will be heading to Heatherdale to participate in various different Summer Sports. Thank you to Allison Whitbread and the Heatherdale Tennis Club for allowing us to use their facilities for our students!
