Level 5/6 Melbourne Zoo Excursion

On Friday 13th October, our Level 5 and 6 students went on an excursion to the Melbourne Zoo. The students have been learning about animal adaptations in their inquiry unit in the classroom. What a fabulous day!

Foundation and Level 3 Swimming

This week, our Foundation and Level 3 students have taken part in the 5 day intensive swimming program, travelling daily to Aquanation in Ringwood. Students were grouped into ability levels and taught important swimming skills by qualified instructors. On Thursday students took part in the water safety day and Friday, the fun water activity day.

Thank you to all of our amazing parent helpers for your help on these days.

STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

On Monday 16th October, our staff took part in professional learning using our new Rangeview Nüdel Kart. Nüdel resources are deconstructable, mobile play carts that can be reconfigured in endless ways to encourage self-directed learning. Working with the Nüdel Kart promotes first principles STEM thinking, self regulation and growth mindset in the form of creative, unstructured play. Thank you to our presenter Marcus Veerman, the Founder and CEO and a big thank you to our Rangeview parent Richie Fedder, who's company donated the Nüdel Kart resource to the school.

Our staff had a wonderful time collaborating to create something wonderful!

OKTOBERFEST

Our annual Oktoberfest celebration was held on Friday 6th October. This whole-school celebration of German language, immersed students in German cultural and language-based activities and gave students the opportunity to sample German foods and take part in German songs and performances. Students were invited to dress in either the German flag colours (red, black, gold/yellow) or in the traditional Bavarian costumes (Dirndlkleid or Lederhosen). A 'fantastisch' day was had by all!

Parking around the school

We recognise that traffic congestion around the school at drop off and pick up times is difficult to navigate, however for the safety of our students, we ask that all local road rules and signs are adhered to.

Please be respectful of our neighbours and do not use their driveways to drop children off. Adhere to the 'no parking' signs and do not use the Churinga Avenue entrance driveway as a pick up or drop off point. Our Munro Street entrance now has flags to remind drivers that the area in front of the school gates is a 'no standing' zone.

Whitehorse Council regularly send parking inspectors to monitor traffic management around the school.
