Principal's Report
Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2023
What a big few weeks we have had already to start our Term! In weeks 2 and 3 of this term we have had;
The State and National NAPLAN data has now been released for 2023 and Rangeview has performed incredibly well in relation to these large data sets. We are very proud of so many aspects of the education we provide at this school - these are just some of the strong results.
The Victorian Government Schools Agreement (VGSA) 2022 has provision for 1 hour of additional non-face to face teaching time for teachers in 2023 and an additional 30 minutes in 2024. This year we have introduced Enrichment as a 1 hour overlay on our timetable and this has encompassed a variety of curriculum areas including Phonics, Numeracy, DigiTech and Wellbeing. Additional specialist teachers have been teaching these areas.
Next year we will re-introduce DigiTech/Technology as a 5th Specialist across the school with a focus on both digital technology/coding and hands on technology, to accommodate the Nudel Kart and our younger learners. We will call this stream ‘Technology’.
In addition to this we will also introduce a 6th Specialist 'Mathematics' across the school. This will be numeracy curriculum with a focus on Problem Solving skills, the Big Ideas, and Multiplicative Thinking.
All students in 2024 will participate in their classroom learning each week with a focus on Literacy, Numeracy, Science, and Humanities. All students will also participate in a weekly 45 minute specialist session in the areas of Art, PE, Music, German, Technology, and Mathematics. Our students will also participate in a 45 minute session of Library each week.
A huge congratulations to our Level 4 student Isaac Wong. Isaac is a National Champion in Taekwondo! Well done Isaac.
A huge congratulations to Oscar Johnston. Oscar has won a Bronze Medal in State Gymnastics! Well done Oscar.
A huge congratulations to Lucas Xing. Lucas is the State Fencing Champion! Well done Lucas.
In 2021 the school was successful in obtaining a grant for the installation of a new shade sail to provide an outdoor learning space post COVID. As almost all schools in the state availed themselves of this resource, there has been considerable delay.
We are thrilled to announce that our new shade sail has now been completed on the Library Deck. Although much delayed, it is wonderful that this space is now ready for Summer.
We have one Pupil Free Day this term - Monday 6th November. This is the day prior to Melbourne Cup Day. Their Care will be available for those families that require care. We hope that for some families this may provide the opportunity of a long weekend getaway.
Don’t forget we are back to wearing hats this term – please send these in with the students to ensure they can play outside and be SunSmart.
We are looking forward to this being a wonderful term and look forward to seeing you all onsite at Rangeview.
