Under Streetlights world premiere at Byron Bay Film
Old Saints, Madison Hull and Micaela Hull have key roles in the feature film Under Streetlights which is premiering tonight in Byron Bay as part of the International Film Festival.
The film follows the journey of two young people from polar opposite worlds who are united by a shared, but different love of music and the opposition of their alcoholic fathers.
A huge congratulations to them both and all other Saints who were a part of such an amazing project.
Set in the cultural crossroads of Alice Springs, this unique musical journey introduces us to Ella, an American-Australian grappling with her mother's recent passing, and Izak, an aspiring Indigenous hip-hop artist. Their shared passion for music becomes a bridge between their contrasting worlds, creating a harmonious blend of their distinct musical talents.
While Ella's songbird voice has remained a hidden treasure, Izak crafts songs on his iPhone, dreaming of a professional music career. Their budding relationship faces challenges, with both struggling with the shadows of alcoholic fathers and the weight of cultural expectations.
Born from a grassroots initiative to empower young talent in remote Australia, this film champions the transformative power of music and the promise of a united future.
Under Streetlights is a heartwarming ode to hope, connection, and the melodies that bind us. Experience a film that will uplift, inspire, and leave you humming its tunes long after the credits roll.
The project is the first all-locally crewed and cast feature film to be shot in Alice Springs. The filmmaker's initial aim was to offer training to young people at a grassroots level in song-writing, acting, public speaking, singing and story-writing. Under Streetlights is written, directed and produced by Danielle Loy, a Northern Territory resident
