Year 5 - Term 4

Welcome back to the new term! We have a lot of fun things to look forward to for the final few months to our Year 5.

To start with something a little different than usual, our new Unit of Inquiry, Sharing the Planet, was introduced as an entire year level.

We looked at the main themes and concepts for this UOI and as a cohort, broke it down into where we would be able to explore the themes, which subjects in school would they all be falling under.

This was a great way to get the students thinking, not only for inquiry lessons, but within the sub-disciplinary areas.

Maths

During Maths we are revisiting the concept of fractions and the relationship between fractions, percentages and decimals. The students will explore how to convert between the two.

 Writing

For our writing this term, the students will be writing a fictional recount of themselves. The concept is based off the new classroom novels that the year 5s will be reading, which is My Life as an Alphabet, by Barry Jonsberg. This will be a writing piece that flows over the entire term.

Well done for a productive and positive start to the term.
