Year 1 News

Maths

Our students have recently been introduced to the concept of division. To make this learning experience both interactive and enjoyable, they recently engaged in a partner activity. Using playdoh mats, they created various sharing problems.

As partners collaborated, they visualized and experimented with dividing quantities, gaining a hands-on understanding. To capture their newfound knowledge, students recorded their discoveries on the activity sheet provided to show their understanding.

Handwriting

Every week, our students have been diligently working on their handwriting skills focusing on a particular letter.

This week we continue to focus on the ‘U’ family. Through a variety of engaging activities, they've embarked on a journey of fine motor development.

Playdoh activities have seen them sculpting the contours of letters, refining their dexterity and precision. Whiteboards have become canvases for perfecting strokes and curves, offering a dynamic and reusable platform for practice. Fingers trace big, bold letters, providing a tactile connection between their senses and the written form.

Finally, their efforts culminate as they complete a dedicated page in their Handwriting Books, showcasing the progress made through dedication and persistence.

These young learners are forging a path towards impeccable penmanship, one letter at a time!
