Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships

Prep

The Prep students have covered lessons 4 and 5 in their RRRR lesson sequence. They have identified how people can feel being around violence and when playing friendly and fair. They’ve also discussed what our clothes do for us e.g. protect our privacy. 

                                                                               

Year 1

The Year 1 students have covered their final lesson, lesson 4 in their RRRR lesson sequence. They have learnt how to deal with situations in which people seek to limit their interests based on gender stereotypes by identifying their own personal character strengths. 

Year 2 

The Year 2 students have covered their final Lessons, lessons 4 & 5 in their RRRR lesson sequence. They have identified that the opposite of violence is helpful and respectful cooperation and how this can help them solve problems with their peers in a respectful way. They have also learnt how to be protective of their own bodies and ways to seek safety or help when faced with inappropriate forms of personal contact.

Year 3 

The Year 3 students have covered all lessons in their RRRR lesson sequence for the year in Term 3.    

Year 4

The Year 4 students have covered Lessons 5 and 6 in their RRRR lesson sequence. They have learnt ways to build respectful gender-friendly relationships and how to seek help when faced with gender-based violence.

Year 5

The Year 5 students have covered Lessons 4 and 5 in their RRRR lesson sequence. Using statistical data, the students have identified how inequitable gender norms, stigma and discrimination can limit the participation of some people in life. They have also looked into human rights, specifically the core International Human rights treaties. 

The United Nations has designated nine core international human rights treaties. They include treaties on:

  • Civil and political rights 
  • Economic, social, and cultural rights 
  • Racial and to gender-based discrimination 
  • Prohibiting torture and forced disappearances 
  • Protecting the rights of children, migrant workers, and persons with disabilities

Year 6

The Year 6 students have covered lessons 4 and 5 in their RRRR lesson sequence. They have identified the behaviours indicative of respectful relationships and how this would look within peer and romantic relationships. The students also discussed what sexual harassment and sexual assault are and how to seek help in these situations.
