Assistant Principal

Year 7 & 8

We’ve made it through the winter and into the final term of the year and the spring/summer weather that comes along with it. Welcome back to all of our students, families, and staff after what I am certain has been a well-earned break. I hope that everyone was able to take some time to recharge the batteries and is ready and excited for what term four brings.

I would like to begin by congratulating the efforts of all our students in term 3. The term can be a challenging one and having looked over the progress reports, it is fantastic to see all wonderful progress the students are making. Students will be formally acknowledged in week three at the awards assemblies where students will receive outstanding attitude to learning awards.

A new term brings with it a whole new set of exciting experiences. There are many exciting things coming up this term to be aware of.

On October 10th the school will be hosting its Spring Concert, showcasing the many musical talents of our student cohort. There is a matinee performance for some of our local primary schools during the day as well as an evening performance for our school community that will be running from 6pm in the Drama Centre. The concert is free and all are encouraged to attend.

This term we also have students competing in interschool sports as well as the state chess competition finals. Our year 9 Advance students will be attending their annual camp. Our year 8 inquiry students will be building towards their maker fair later in the term where they will be taking their carefully crafted products to market. Our year 9 students will be attending the Italian film festival, our year 10 environmental science classes will be attending CERES to study sustainability and climate change, as well as many incursions and let’s not forget the end of year activities week and school picnic. I look forward to hearing about and sharing these events throughout the term.

Finally, a reminder that when using compass that there is an option to translate the text (writing) into another language if you would choose to or prefer. To translate the page and writing, simply click on the “select language” writing that is located at the bottom right corner of the page and select your preferred language. This will then change all possible writing on the page into the language you have chosen. Compass is currently working on expanding the capability of the translation service and there will be greater functionality coming this term. We will be sure to keep you up to date as this occurs. If you have any questions or require any assistance with this, please do not hesitate to reach out.
