Interview with Janelle

Interview with Janelle Diggins

Year 5A

How long have you worked at

BNPS?

  • I have worked at BNPS for about 12 years, both as a relieving and classroom teacher.

Who inspires you?

  • I have so many friends and family members in my life who inspire me. I have learnt to be patient and kind from my grandmother, resilient and committed from my son, loving and supportive from my husband; adventurous and brave from my daughters; determined and focused from my siblings, and independent and strong from my parents.
  • My hope is that I too can have an impact on my students to help them feel empowered, curious and exceptional.

What is your favourite thing to do on weekends?

  • I love spending time with my family. We enjoy long walks, coffee dates, exploring different restaurants and experiences around Melbourne and movie nights. We are really enjoying watching the footy finals together.

If you could go on a holiday anywhere in the World, where would you go?

  • Anywhere in Europe. I’d absolutely love to go to Greece and Italy to swim in the fresh blue water, admire the beautiful colourful, soak up the town history and sample all of the delicious local foods and produce.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

  • I am definitely a night owl! I am most productive at night. I love the peacefulness when everyone else is asleep, I find it very challenging to be up and about early in the morning.

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

  • I’m very crafty. I enjoy sewing, embroidery, making patchwork quilts and cushions. Unfortunately, I haven’t had enough time to lately so I’m looking forward to working on a project over the school holidays.

What recently made you smile?

  • My son surprised me by coming home unexpectedly from his overseas travel. We were missing him terribly and it was such a lovely surprise. I cried with happiness.

What would you like to say to the students at BNPS?

  • Anything is possible. When you believe in yourself and surround yourself with positive and encouraging people, opportunities will arise.
  • Be grateful for the small things and choose kind. Be the person who makes someone else’s day better and you’ll have a full, happy and successful life.
