From the Assistant Principal
Thank you to everyone for welcoming me to Ormond PS. I have spent time over the past fortnight getting to know students, staff and families and how I can best support everyone this term. I come to OPS as an experienced educational leader, both in curriculum and pedagogy development and also wellbeing. I will be working closely with the wellbeing team at the DET (Department of Education and Training) to access additional supports for our students and families so please feel free to contact me, particularly about any student wellbeing concern.
Play Hub
I have met with the Parents and Friends, and I am happy to say that we will begin rolling out the wonderful, new Play Hub today. All students will have the opportunity to explore the Play Hub resources in their classes over the next couple of weeks before it all goes into the yard for added Recess and Lunch time fun.
A big thank you to our community for the fundraising that has enabled this project to happen and a huge shout out to Jacqui Warfe and team for all of your amazing efforts.
Communication
We will be moving to more frequent and detailed communication using Compass in the coming weeks, for both staff and families. Please ensure that you are connected to Compass and have the Compass app on your device with notifications turned on. Hopefully this will be a smooth implementation and we certainly welcome your feedback on this matter. Our office staff can help you with any Compass issues.
I am looking forward to going on the Year 4 camp later this week (hopefully in the sunshine!). Kerri will be available in my absence as she will remain at school to follow up on pressing school matters, including the AstroTurf project.
