Colour Run

We had the most amazing Colour Run for Fun day on Monday, everyone had a great time, lots of laughs, smiles and loads of colour.  It was not so fun when myself and some of the teachers were slimed by around 90 students, who had raised above $50.

We are not sure who had more fun, the teachers or the students!!  Please see some of the great photos of the event in the Colour Run page of this newsletter, we had such a successful fundraising effort for our Colour Run for Fun, raising over $8,300.  Thank you to everyone that fundraised, we really appreciate it.

Special mention must go to our top 3 fundraisers:

2024 Student Leaders

We have completed our school leader process for 2024 and we would like to congratulate all our year 5 students for their involvement and participation.

Successful students went through a three-step process which included writing a speech about their personal attributes and vision for school captain, presenting their speech, and participating in an interview with leadership and school captains.

The connection and pride in our school from our potential school leaders was outstanding!

Applications for Curriculum Leader positions were also completed, and we are very excited about their role in 2024, which includes visiting and providing feedback to classrooms on a weekly rotation and working closely with staff members in specialist areas to improve student voice and agency.

Leaders will be officially announced at our last Whole School Assembly for the year on Monday 11 December.

A big congratulations goes to:

2024 School Captains – Mitch and Noah

Mathematics Leader - Dhavij

ICT Leader – Reyansh

Music Leader - Maddy

These students will receive their official badges at the first assembly in 2024.

Christmas Raffle

We would be very grateful for any donations to be delivered to the school office before Friday 1st of December.  The more donations we get, the more prizes and winners we will have.  Our raffle will be drawn at our Christmas Carols on Thursday the 7th December. Tickets are 1.00 each / $10.00 for the book and more tickets are available from the school office.  Some of our Year 6 Leaders will also be selling tickets each morning at the front of the school starting next week.

Year 6 Graduation

Our Year 6 Graduation Ceremony will be held on Thursday 14th December in the school gym.  Students and their families will celebrate the end of their primary school journey, through a night of celebrations, memories and scholarship presentations.  The following day, Friday 15th December our Year 6 students will participate in 'The Big Day Out', where they will travel to Gumbuya World, where they will have the opportunity to explore the water park, rides area and wildlife section.

With all the fundraising completed this year, we were able to keep the cost of the day to $15 per student.  A huge thank you to everyone in the Clyde PS community for your support with these fundraising events.

Whole School Transition

Our whole school transition began this week (Wednesday 22nd November) with students stepping up into next year’s level for a couple of sessions.  The aim of this session and next weeks session (Wednesday 29th November) is to help students prepare and adapt to their new year level and assist in creating the ‘best fit’ classes for 2024.

Further transition sessions occur on:

Tuesday 12th December (whole day)

Tuesday 19th December (one session)

School Noticeboard

This morning we had a large crane at our school, which assisted in the relocation of our electronic noticeboard (from the outside of the gym to near the front entrance). This board will remind passing community members of important dates and reminders as they travel past the school.  Hopefully, the new location will get a lot more notice!!

Smartwatches and Mobile Phones

With many families beginning their Christmas shopping, I would like to remind parents that our school policy bans children from wearing smartwatches and having mobile phones on them, during the school day.

A mobile phone is a telephone with access to a cellular (telecommunication) system, with or without a physical connection to a network. For the purpose of this policy, “mobile phone” refers to mobile phones and any device that may connect to or have a similar functionality to a mobile phone such as smart watches.

Clyde Primary School understands that students may bring a personal mobile phone to school, particularly if they are travelling independently to and from school.

At Clyde Primary School:

 • Students who choose to bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored during school hours at the school office.

 • When emergencies occur, parents or carers should reach their child by calling the school’s office.

End of Term

Wednesday the 20th December is our last day of school for the year.  Please note that it is an early dismissal time at 1.30pm on this day.

Reducing COVID-19 Transmission

There is at present an increase in community transmission of COVID-19 in Victoria.

You can help us keep our school as safe as possible by taking 2 important steps:

1. Ensure your COVID-19 vaccinations are up to date.  Information on how and where to get vaccinated is available on the Get Vaccinated webpage.

2. If your child shows symptoms of COVID-19, please ensure they stay home and get tested. The easiest way to test is to use a rapid antigen test (RAT).  Free RATs are available from your local council where you can collect 2 packs of 5 RATs and an extra 2 packs for each person in your household.  People with disability and their carers can get 4 packs of 5 RATs. You are not required to have a Medicare card and you can collect RATs as many times as you need.  You can also buy RATs at supermarkets, pharmacies and other retailers.

If your child has symptoms but tests negative, please ensure they stay home until they no longer have symptoms.

If the RAT test result is positive, please ensure they say home for at least 5 days and until there are no more symptoms.

Thank you for your support – these steps will help us all stay well.

Choir Performance

Last week the Clyde Primary School Choir visited Cranbourne Daycare and Kindergarten Centre.  The choir performed the songs, Flowers, It’s a small world and All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth for the children in the Junior and Senior Kinder rooms. Children from the 4-year-old Kinder joined our Choir students to sing the song, We are Australian together.  It was an exciting and fun experience for both Kinder students and our students as well as an opportunity for us to further our connections between the school and the Kindergarten.

Smile Squad is on the way to our school!

All children deserve a healthy smile, and the Smile Squad is coming to Clyde Primary School to help make sure this happens.

Smile Squad is a Victorian Government program that provides free dental care to all Victorian government primary and secondary school students.

The friendly Smile Squad dental team will visit Clyde Primary soon to conduct a free annual dental health examination for every student and provide free follow up treatment as needed.

We need your consent before we can provide services. Consent is usually provided by a parent or guardian.
