Vale Marg McDonald & Lina Creglia

Marian Catholic College would not be the amazing educational facility without the hard work, effort and dedication of the numerous teachers and staff members  from the past, encompassing the eras of Catholic High and Marian Catholic College. Sadly, in recent weeks, we have farewelled two former staff members, and the College wishes to pay tribute to their invaluable contributions to our College community.

Lina Creglia 1926 - 2023

Lina Creglia, also known as Signora Creglia, served as the Italian teacher at Catholic High School from the early 1970s to the mid-1990s, contributing over two decades of dedicated service to the school. Despite her petite stature, her enthusiasm and charisma were incredibly vibrant. Mrs. Creglia was always a picture of elegance, completing every outfit with high heels and a small black handbag. Being the sole Italian teacher for many years, she not only taught the language of her native country, Italy, to her students but also shared her deep passion for Italian culture and history. Rest in peace Signora Creglia.

Marg McDonald 1931-2023

Marg McDonald, affectionately referred to as Mrs. Mac, by both staff and students, was a former mathematics teacher at Catholic High School. She also served the school community from the early 1970s until the mid-1990s, devoting more than two decades to the teaching of mathematics. Mrs. Mac's teaching techniques were not only innovative but also enjoyable, and she will be remembered for her talent in adapting conventional songs to help students grasp mathematical concepts. She would regularly have the entire class singing these catchy tunes, which she had cleverly rephrased to reinforce mathematical concepts. Rest in peace Mrs Mac.

This poem was offered at Mrs Mac’s final farewell, something that she referred to regularly.
