MCC NAPLAN Results 2023

We are pleased to share with our Marian families our outstanding NAPLAN results for 2023 in both Year 7 and 9!

In Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students are assessed across Australia based on five different domains: Reading, Writing, Grammar & Punctuation, Spelling and Numeracy.

This year we are pleased to announce that MCC was above the rest of our Diocese and Schools across the state similar to us (SSSG) in 9 out of 10 domains! (see images below with Marian in the Green).

In addition to this, we were also above the National average in 8 out of 10 of the domains as well.

These sensational results are of no surprise to staff at the College. Our staff have worked tirelessly over the past few years to improve their own practice, and as a result the growth and learning of our students. Recently staff were surveyed as part of their Professional Learning Session to determine what have been the biggest contributors to our outstanding NAPLAN and HSC results over the past four years, and below are the results:

  • Cross Curricular Writing and Numeracy Program
  • GAP Team and GAP Meetings
  • PLT Program and our Staff Professional Learning
  • Literacy Team
  • Igniting Writing Program
  • College Data Analysis and New Data Wall
  • Accelerated Reader and Literacy Year 7 Classes
  • Explicit Learning Intention & Success Criteria
  • Quicksmart Numeracy Program
  • MacqLit Literacy Program

The job is not over for MCC Staff. In recent PLT Sessions staff have been analysing data, identifying areas of strength for Year 7 and 9 students and targeting areas of improvement, while in future PLT Sessions staff will design plans and programs to explicitly address the areas of improvement.

Congratulations to all staff, students and parents/carers for these amazing results.
