To our our students, families and staff,

To Year 12 Graduates -the class of 2023- our heartfelt congratulations on having reached this significant milestone. We also want to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of your parents and families who have supported you throughout this journey over the last six years.

This moment holds immense importance in the lives of all of the graduating students. The majority of this class began their journey with Marian Catholic College in January 2018, with a few joining in subsequent years. Your school years were marked by challenges, including a severe drought in NSW and Griffith that continued until 2020, devastating bushfires and even a mouse plague. From 2020 to 2022, you, like the rest of the world, faced the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, akin to historical events like World War II. Many of you endured isolation from extended families and distant loved ones, some of whom you may have sadly lost without the chance for a final visit.

This year as you prepare to graduate, we’ve witnessed global events like earthquakes in Turkey and Iran and Morocco and fires in Maui. We’re entering an El Nino summer, officially declared this week, promising scorching temperatures. We share these reminders not to dampen your spirits or to take away from your joy and achievements, but to emphasise the strength you have shown throughout your six-year journey. Your resilience, mental toughness and courage have been remarkable.

We also want to acknowledge your families, friends and the dedicated staff at Marian Catholic College who have been by your side, nurturing your growth and your learning. This is a story of faith, care, service, learning and stewardship. It is also a story of hands and hearts. These values, these hands and these hearts have held, loved and supported you, moulding you into the strong young adults you are today. Your mission is clear: leave as determined young adults, striving for your personal best for yourselves, your loved ones and your community. No matter where your paths lead,  you carry the support of faith, family, friends and community-hearts and hands.

You have much to look forward to, equipped with knowledge and wisdom from the education Marian has provided, grounded in the College’s core values of faith, care, service, learning and stewardship. Each of you possesses unique gifts and talents, ready to shine in your own special way. You have the foundation of a Catholic faith tradition that spans generations.

Before I conclude, I would like to express gratitude to Mrs Renae Savage, your dedicated year leader, to our College Captains and all Year 12 student leaders, and all of the staff here at Marian who have tirelessly supported you. They all take immense pride in your accomplishments.

To the class of 2023, remember this: whether or not these school years were your best, what truly matters is the gift of education, love, support, friendships and caring teachers who have worked tirelessly with their hands and their hearts. Your education continues beyond these walls. No matter your chosen path-work, study or travel-learning remains a lifelong journey. You will be guided by your faith, you will provide care and love, offer service and continue learning, becoming wise stewards of the world.

Now as young adults you take on leadership roles. Approach the future with confidence, armed with faith, using your heads, your hands and your hearts wisely.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to our New College Leaders
