External Exam Block

Today our Year 12 students completed their final External Exam for 2023. Congratulations to all the boys for the way they entered the exam period. The boys were organised, punctual and worked hard to ensure they achieved their best across each paper.

Well done, gentlemen.

Year 12 release of QCE and Senior Education Profiles (SEPs)

All Year 12 students should be on myQCE – if not, help for registration can be found here: https://myqce.qcaa.qld.edu.au/home/help/student-portal-faqs This needs to be completed as soon as possible to make sure results and SEPs can be accessed smoothly from 9:00am on Friday 15 December.

Exam Block schedules

Year 8, 10 and 11 End of Semester exams commenced today with Year 7 and 9 beginning tomorrow. All exam scheduled have been emailed to students and their parents. Please ensure your son has viewed this and has made note in his study schedule.

Please note:

  • Year 7-9 students will remain in normal timetabled classes when not in an exam.
  • Year 10-11 students will only be required on campus for their scheduled exams. Students will return to normal timetable classes after the conclusion of the exam block. Normal expectations in regard to behaviour and uniform still exist and will be enforced.

Year 10-11 students are reminded that exam block privileges will not be given to any student who has summative work owing. Boys who have not completed work required will be asked to remain at school until the work has been completed. This is particularly relevant for students who are undertaking Certificate courses, including Year 10 Workplace Skills and Outdoor Recreation.

Normal classes for all year levels will run across Wednesday 22 November and Thursday 23 November. It is expected that all students will be in attendance from 8:30am-3:10pm on these days.

If a student is planning on being away from the College, they must complete an Extended Leave Form. This requires signatures from their teachers, Pastoral Leaders, Academics Leaders and from the College Leadership Team. Students can collect this form from the Studies Office which must be completed at least three days prior to departure from the College.

Assessment Policy

A reminder that extensions for written assignments can be provided through the Academic Care Team.  A medical certificate will be required.  Please note, however, that there are no extensions for exams.  If your son is at school on the day of testing, he is required to complete the exam.

Year 8 Writing Task Practice

During exam block all Year 8 students will participate in a practice writing task.  The boys completed a task in Term 2 and will complete another one this term to gauge improvement in their writing.  They cannot prepare for this task, nor will it contribute towards their end of semester report.  All boys will complete this practice in the Champagnat Centre.

Year 9-10 Electives 2024

Students in Year 9 and 10 in 2024 will be notified this week of their electives for next year.  Please ensure that you take the time to discuss that these are the correct choices for your son.  If he needs to have a discussion about these electives, he must see a member of the Academic Care team before the end of school this year.  The Academic Care team are located under the Senior Library at the Studies Office.

Book and Equipment Lists 2024 – these will be sent later this week.

Languages – Year 7 and 8

In 2024 all Year 7 students will study a semester of both Japanese and French.  Boys entering Year 8 in 2024 will continue to study their chosen language from Year 7 across the year. As a college we value the impact and opportunity that learning languages provides our students.  Brain research has also shown that learning an additional language supports learning across all curriculum areas.

Year 7 and 10 2024 – Laptop

Students in Year 7 and 10 in 2024 will receive their school provided laptop during the first week of school in 2024.  Next week an email will be sent to all families to inform them of the College Laptop Agreement that must be signed before any student is able to collect their laptop.
