Biladu-njan wat/how are you all? And in the words of my Yawuru language...Ngaji gurrjin/Hello everyone!

Foundation

Students have continued to learn and practise Woiwurrung body part nouns used in the ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes (feet)’ song; some colour words. This term they have been learning number words 1-10 as well as Family & People Nouns. Students continue to learn the sounds of Woiwurrung through hearing the language modelled, with lots of oral practice through repetition, games and songs, to develop correct pronunciation. They have been learning about basic vowel and consonant sounds in Woiwurrung, and the associated letter patterns used to write these sounds.

Years 1-6

Students continue to strengthen their knowledge of the Family & People Nouns. They have enjoyed playing a variety of games which help them to learn the words.

They continue to learn and practise introductions of self, family members and friends.

Students continue to develop their understanding and knowledge of the Woiwurrung sound and spelling system and, depending on their grade level, the associated letter patterns used to write the sounds which they are learning. Students have enjoyed the different activities and games that challenge them to think about the Woiwurrung sound and spelling patterns. Students in 1-2 and 3-4 have also enjoyed using ‘Show Me whiteboards to practise their Woiwurrung spelling and writing skills.

All students continue to practise greetings and introductions, basic conversation phrases and classroom commands, set for their year level.
