Advent

This Sunday, we will celebrate the Second Sunday in Advent. The Gospel reading is about John the Baptist. He was the son of Elizabeth and Zechariah and he was chosen by God to prepare the people for the coming of Jesus. John the Baptist told the people that they needed to be sorry for all that they had done wrong and that they should try to live better lives.

Let us pray...

Lord,

You sent John the Baptist to prepare the people for the coming of your Son.

As Christmas draws closer, help us to prepare so that we may be ready for Christmas Day.

Amen.

Prayer Time

This term, the students have been invited to attend "Prayer Time" during lunch time each Tuesday.

This week, we engaged in a meditation which focussed on the Birth of Jesus.  We prayed to Mary and Joseph and asked them both to help us to open our hearts to the faith that God wants for us. We imagined that baby Jesus was in our own arms. Afterwards, there was time for reflection. Here are the students' thoughts and feelings:

  • When I was relaxing, I felt warm and nice. When we saw Mary, Jesus and Joseph, it made me stop and think and this reminded me to always let Jesus in my heart and to let his light shine brightly in my soul and spirit. Amelia T.
  • Jesus is always with us, no matter what!  Gabriela O.
  • Jesus, the true heart of the world. Emmeline C.
  • My heart bursts open with happiness. Love for God is nothing but holy to me and should be to everyone. Jesus is with us.  Leyla M.
  • I feel love burst through me. I care for Him like he was mine. I still couldn't believe I was holding the king of the world, Jesus Christ. Beatrice M.
  • Jesus is our saviour and I worship Him. Emma W.
  • I feel so warm in my heart when Jesus is in my heart. Anabella S.

May you, too, be inspired by these students' reflections and find a moment in time for prayer in order to invite Jesus into your hearts.

Kind regards

Liana Stella
