Assistant Principal 

Thank You 

During the last week of Term Four, I will be taking Long Service Leave and so wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to the Holy Family community for a wonderful year. During this first year at Holy Family school, I have been made to feel so welcome and part of this great community. I am looking forward to working with you and your children next year. 

 

EALD- English as a Second Language or Dialect EALD- English as a Second Language or Dialect 

In 2024, our EALD staffing allocation has increased from one day per week to two days. Increased enrolments of students with English as a second language and hard work from our staff and admin team have allowed for this increase. 

I will be taking this role in addition to my Assistant Principal position, and I am looking forward to the rewards and challenges it will bring. 

Some of the role will include - 

  • identification of our students will additional languages through surveys and assessments
  • identification of individual student needs 
  • working in classrooms to assist students will their English vocabulary knowledge and skills 
  • leading weekly professional learning and planning with all staff around the focus of writing, oral language development and vocabulary development in English (collaborative coaching)
  • parent engagement and assistance in accessing the curriculum and ways to help their child at home.

Music Request - Keyboard 

As some of you may know, our wonderful teacher Brigid McNally is an accomplished musician and song writer. Please see the link below for more information.

In 2024, her work will be based in the library and she is looking for a second hand tabletop or light full keyboard to use. This will assist our students as they prepare for the musical in Term Two, written by Mrs McNally, and practise for upcoming liturgical celebrations.
