Year Three Team News

with Katja, Emil, Carmel & Mary

Hello Year Three families,

There has been a lot happening in Year 3 over the past few weeks and we are so proud of how well the students have participated and given everything a red-hot-go!

The Zoo Snoozes last week were well worth waiting for! What an amazing experience. This is one of the Willy traditions that continues to be well worth the effort. We were so impressed with how the students embraced all there was on offer. A huge thank you goes to Emil for all the time he put in to organise this for us. We must also acknowledge our parent helpers who gave up their time to come and join us. Thank you to Lauren (Penny’s mum), Nat (Yusuf’s dad), Melinda (Eli’s mum), Brendan (Coby’s dad) and Petar (Mya’s dad). We really appreciate all your help.

This was a perfect culmination of all the work the students have done on our Inquiry unit ‘Endangered Animals: What Can We Do?’ They were able to confidently share their knowledge with the Zoo staff and experience firsthand what they had learnt.

The Willy Games, on Wednesday, was a fun day and it was great to see all the school together in their house colours. The Melbourne weather was kind to us as well.

Coming Up:

Willy Botanical Gardens – On Monday 18th December we will be walking to the Williamstown Botanical Garden for an end of year celebration. The students will be spending some time in this lovely part of Williamstown with their peers and teachers.

Kris Kringle - The students will receive a note next week with the name of a classmate that they have for a K.K. A reminder to bring along a gift with the child’s name by Monday 18th December (no more than $10). We are focusing on ‘Kindness’ so we encourage them to do some kind acts for the person they have for K.K. but also to be kind to each other.

Friday 15th December - To celebrate the end of the year, Year 3 students will be walking to Capriccio Ice Cream Shop at 171 Nelson Street, Williamstown, to purchase a gelati for four dollars. Then, we will walk to the playground adjacent to St. Mary's Primary School for a play. Students are required to bring $4 to school on the day if they would like to purchase an ice cream. (The Local Excursion note completed at the beginning of the year provides consent for this excursion.)

We have almost made it through to the end of a marathon year. It has been an absolute joy working with this wonderful group of Willy Kids. We take this opportunity to thank you all for your support. We wish all our wonderful Year 3 students and families a lovely festive season, relaxing break and all the very best for 2024!

Take care and keep safe.

Warm regards,

The Grade 3 team - Katja Rosic (3R), Emil de Vries (3D), Mary Colangelo and Carmel Byrne (3C),
