Year One Team News

with Anna, Marina & Claire

Hello Year One families,

We can’t believe that the school year is almost over! While it seems like 2023 has flown by, the students in Year One have made incredible growth in their learning, and we are proud of each and every one of them. We are certain that they are ready for the exciting challenges of Year Two and we can’t wait to see how they grow, learn and change next year. We wish all Year One families a safe, happy and fun summer break and we can’t wait to see our Willy Kids refreshed and ready to learn in January, 2024. We also wish Marina a wonderful last few days at Williamstown Primary School and look forward to hearing from her about her new adventures.

Assembly:

Well done to 1R for hosting another fantastic assembly with 2J. There was a lovely ode to Marina who is retiring at the end of the year, which took her by surprise. She was very appreciative and grateful for the kind and heartfelt words. Tomorrow will see the much anticipated Prep Christmas performance!

Curriculum Focus: Weeks 11

Reading: We have now finished the Little Learners Love Literacy program. The remainder of this term will be revision of stage 7.4.

Writing: The students will be working on poetry and creating lovely Christmas messages for their families.

Numeracy: We will be focusing on revising the Maths topics we have covered this term and during the year.

Inquiry:  We completed our maze toys and what a wonderful job they all did! The students were so excited to play everyone’s games and they eagerly took their mazes home to try to stump their families!

Willy Kids/Respectful Relationships: The Willy Kids focus next week will be “Willy Kids Reflect and Celebrate” where students will be discussing what it means to be a reflective learner and will be given time to celebrate the achievements of the year. Our focus for Respectful Relationships this term was “Help Seeking.”

Warm regards,

The Grade One Team –  Anna Swan (1S), Marina Robb (1R)  & Claire Davies (1D)
