Wellbeing and Inclusion

at Willy

Dear families,

There has been much activity and focus in the Wellbeing and Inclusion space at Willy Primary throughout the year, some more visible than others.

Throughout the year, classroom, specialist and ES staff have undertaken professional learning in inclusive practices to increase knowledge and capacity to ensure we continue to strive towards providing the best learning environments for all our students, by making adjustments and adaptations to learning experiences.

The establishment of our Bluestone Lounge - a sensory and wellbeing space used throughout the day by students with additional needs, or those requiring some additional support on occasion, has been widely accessed and utilised.

Our Clubs program has continued throughout the year, changing and adapting to the voice of our students. Lego, Chess Club, and the Playpod continue to be popular, and we look to incorporate other clubs next year, in response to student voice.

Our Kitchen Garden program, accessed by all students for a term throughout the year, has been widely engaging and a highlight for many. In addition to this, we incorporated a social skills program, again with positive outcomes for our students involved.

As always, our dedicated Education Support Staff work closely with their individual students, in conjunction with classroom teachers to adapt and adjust on a daily basis. Their ability to both anticipate and respond to the students is outstanding, as is their contribution in many other areas across the school.

We continue to build our practices and materials in Wellbeing and Inclusion and are pleased to be adding additional resources, both human and physical to this space in 2024!

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and safe holiday period.
