Visual Arts News

Wominjeka, Kia Ora, Bonjour,

Over the next couple of weeks, artists will be bringing home all their beautiful artworks filled with imagination and creativity. We, the Visual Art team, encourage you to talk through the work with your artist and celebrate all the brain and the heart that went into their art. If you can create a little gallery at home somewhere, that would be amazing. 😊

Grade Prep 1 and 2

Artists were inspired by a story called My Friend Fred. After learning about friendship with a pet, they were encouraged to create a picture of their real or imagined pet. They were also encouraged to use all the space on the page. The results are amazing!

Grade 3 and 4

Artists have been completing unfinished pieces or catching up on missed lessons. Here are some more Tim Burton self-portraits. Some artists also completed a guided drawing of a dragon eye. Students were able to use their imagination to add to or vary their eyes so they looked a little different from the original. There’s a few examples below, works in progress still needing some colour.

Grade 5 and 6

The finishing touches added to their multi-media artworks, Grade 5 and 6 artists were encouraged to write their art ‘blurb’ including the title of the piece, the artist’s name and the date it was completed, the media they used and what the artwork’s message is. Just like you’d find in an art gallery, they have been encouraged to write about themselves and their artwork in the third person. They are all amazing and it was hard to choose just a few to showcase here.  We are very proud of the strength in the artists’ voices and hope they inspire you to think more deeply about the environment and make changes too.
