Last Thursday Nadine Joy and her voice students held an intimate vocal soiree in the band room, sharing stories, songs and farewelling some of Nadine’s long-standing students, some of whom have been singing with Nadine since year 7. 

It was a wonderful night of music, many thanks to Nadine for providing this experience for her students.

On Monday 20th November, Jazz Syndicate played in the foyer to entertain guests as they arrived at our Year 12 Graduation dinner at GMHBA president’s room. It was a bittersweet performance, as we celebrated with our very finely dressed Year 12s, but realised that this was one of the last gigs we would share with them.

Farewell to Toby Davidson, Oscar Waring, Georgia Macrae, Jem Duff and Byron Walker, who have been such fabulous contributors to Jazz Syndicate over the years.

Last Tuesday we held our Year 6 Music Program concert in the PAC. This was an amazing event, celebrating great work by the year 6 students who took part in the program. After only 5 weeks of lessons, these students performed as a whole band, and in small groups, in front of a supportive audience of family and friends. Many thanks to Emma Moffatt and Amanda Linton for all they work they put into making the program a success! Thanks to our mentors who joined the Year 6 students for the performance: Morgan Lugg, Fern Knight and Harry Whelan.

Students are heading out to play Christmas Carols at Kalkee Living next Tuesday, and have been rehearsing at lunchtimes to make sure they are full of Christmas cheer for this gig! Make sure you bring some Christmas bling to liven up your instrument on the day

Our annual Primary Schools Music Tour is happening on Monday December 4th, with the tour band heading out to local primary schools to demonstrate instruments, and put on a show for all year levels.

Jazz Syndicate and Senior Band have a rehearsal to prepare for performances at Awards night, on Thursday December 14th in band room 1:

Senior Band: 11 – 12.30pm

Jazz Syndicate: 1 – 2.30pm

Jazz Syndicate will also perform at the Year 7 parent information evening on Tuesday 12th December, from 5.30 – 6.00pm.

Please ensure that you have completed a re enrolment form if your child is continuing with lessons in 2024. These are available for download on Compass, under the school documentation tab.
