At GWPS, we have offered our students the opportunity to hone their problem-solving skills as they participate in a variety of Mathematics Competitions as follows:
Over the last month, it has been a delight to celebrate the resilience and resulting achievements of many students across our school. Congratulations to all participants!
Australian Mathematics Competition
The Australian Maths Competition was sat online in August and consists of engaging maths problems. There are two levels in the competition: Middle Primary for Years 3 and 4; and Upper Primary for Years 5 and 6.
Prize
It was a very exciting experience to attend the award ceremony to present Baanushaan from Year 4 with his Prize. This is an exceptional result and he achieved results in the top 0.3 % of Victoria.
High Distinction
Congratulations to the following students who achieved a High Distinction (top 3% of Victoria) and were presented with their certificates at assembly:

Maths Olympiad
The Maths Olympiad is a competition against other schools in Australia and New Zealand and has a broad range of worded problems that are very challenging. This consisted of four papers sat throughout the year, and awards were presented to students at our assemblies to celebrate their achievements.

Maths Games
The Maths Games is an intra school competition and has a broad range of worded problems that are challenging at Year Six level. This consisted of four papers sat throughout the year, and awards were presented to students at our assemblies to celebrate their achievements and resilience in learning.
