Welcome to the end of 2023
We have had a very busy term 4 this year so as you can imagine both students and staff are running out of energy right about now!
It’s been a great year where staff and students have worked together to achieve some great things, including our celebrations, camps and excursions. There are many examples of student achievement at PLSC but the most important things is the way that staff and students treat one and another everyday. There is a real culture building of mutual respect and care for others.
Its incredible to look at the progress of our school over the year, we are entirely new and re-born in many ways. The new buildings which are modern, climate controlled and light are a glowing example of what a modern school should look like.
Rewarding good behaviours
This year our focus has been on improving our attendance, to support this, we have introduced the AAA awards (Triple A).
This stands for Attitude, Attendance and Achievement, we present tasty truck vouchers weekly and larger prizes at the end of the term for those students who attend regularly, do their work and do their best at all times. This has been very popular and much sought after.
Reports
Our staff are currently completing some reports on how your child’s learning is progressing. Please take the time to go through it with them and call us if you feel you need help with putting plans in place to get them back on track or keep them on track, we are here to help. They will form the basis of discussions at three-way conferences at the beginning of 2024.
Building program
We are rapidly coming to the end of our building program now, if you look out the window you can probably see our new car park going in and all the footings for our electronic signs are in and they are ready to be fitted in the very near future. Our staff have been wonderful in accommodating all the interruptions.
Staffing and student numbers in 2024
We have advertised all of our positions and made the following appointments
We are just putting the finishing touches on in a few other areas. In all of these things there may be some future movement that happens in every school at this stage of the year, often when people’s personal circumstances change, which is unavoidable.
If there any questions of queries please do not hesitate to get in contact with us at the school, we are only too happy to assist you.
Graduation
Thanks to the staff for the wonderful organisation of the night, for their care are compassion for students and their families. There are many people who have made contributions to getting the students to their end goal of completion and graduation that we need to acknowledge as well as teachers in 2023. It’s also important to acknowledge the fact that for some our students the journey has not been easy which makes the celebration even more meritorious.
Our sincere thanks
With only a few days left of 2023, we want to take the opportunity to say thanks to you all for your work this year. We acknowledge the fact that you have chosen our school to educate your child at the business end of things and for this we are thankful.
No doubt 2024 will have its own set of challenges and with all of our VET courses basically full and our VM places rapidly filling up, the school is in a good place going forward – this is no small part due to the way staff and students work together- we are thankful for that.
We have great staff here at the school and they work together with your children to get the best outcomes they can for them – a big thanks to all of my staff here at PLSC. We are also really well supported by a wonderful School Council.
Enjoy Christmas and see you in the new year.
