Science Incursions
Throughout this term, our students have had an amazing opportunity to celebrate science by participating in science incursions provided by Ecolinc. These opportunities have provided us with hands on experiences that highlighted different strands of science.
Solar Houses
Year 5/6 students and teachers kicked off our celebrations on Thursday October 26th. They explored solar power by participating in discussions about fossil fuels and renewable energy. Students were able to build and test their own model solar house.
Australian Dinosaurs
On Monday 27th November, Foundation students were next to celebrate science with an incursion called Aussie Dinosaurs. Children investigated different dinosaurs, predicted habitats based on features and created a model of an Australian dinosaur.
Be a Meteorologist.
Next, it was the Year 1/2 students’ chance to explore science with a program called Be a meteorologist. Our children participated in discussions about the weather and explored weather testing instruments. Students each created a windsock and tested it outside to determine the direction of the wind.
Mega Bugs
Our very patient Year 3/4 students were our last groups to celebrate science. They participated in a program called Mega bugs. This fun incursion allowed our students opportunities to observe present day arthropods using scientific equipment.
We all had a wonderful time learning about science and can’t wait for the next opportunity to extend our knowledge about the world around us.
