International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated worldwide every year on March 8th, honouring the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year’s theme, "Acceleration Action," highlights the need for urgent and decisive actions to advance gender equality. To mark the occasion, the Women’s Wellbeing group hosted a session featuring a presentation by Sejal, our Master of Social Work placement student. We followed this with engaging activities, including drawing portraits of each other, creating motivational messages, and recognising the women in our lives as strong role models. We also had some fun learning and dancing to traditional cultural dances from Cambodia and India. In addition, the women have been very excited and busy learning their dances to present to the school for the Harmony Day parade.
We’d also like to take a moment to introduce you to our English class tutors at the Community Hub. Meet Miss Tamara, who teaches our Digital Class on Tuesdays and our Citizenship Class on Fridays. Miss Tamara has Chilean heritage, and here’s a fun fact: she was once a primary school student at our school when it was still known as Springvale Heights Primary School! Be sure to join her classes – they’re always lots of fun!
