Snapshots from Springvale

On March 17th, Springvale Campus celebrated Harmony Day. This is alwasy one of the signature events at Springvale Rise as it is a day when our school community comes together to celebrate the beauty and strength that comes from diversity, inclusion and mutual respect. It was great to welcome Uncle Mark back to our school to start the day by performing the Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country.

Some of the other highlights of the day were the Dragon Dance, Cambodian Dance and our students’ Vietnamese Song Performance (which was taught by Mrs Le and Mrs Raciti.) Students also participated in various activities, including multicultural games, craft-making and discussions about the importance of respect, kindness, and inclusion. It was a wonderful day of learning and celebration, reminding us that everyone belongs.

Did you know that at SRPS we run a wide variety of Lunch Clubs. Some of the clubs that run on Springvale Campus are dancing, mindfulness, drawing and Lego Club just to name a few. Lunch clubs are a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in something different and develop new skills, all while having fun with friends. It's also provides an oportunity to relax and unwind with friends in a calm, supportive environment. This week I visited Mrs Drysdale’s Craft Club, where I learned how to make 3D paper stars. I had so much fun learning a new skill from some very clever students. What a great way to spend my lunch break!

As part of our commitment to promoting healthy habits, we would like to remind all families that water is the best and only drink to have at school as it helps students stay hydrated and focused throughout the day. Please support us by ensuring that your child brings a water bottle to school each day instead of juices, soft drinks and other sugary drinks. This will also help to reduce the amount of rubbish created at school.

Let’s work together to keep our students healthy and to look after our environment!

Thank you for your continued support!
