Celebrating Earth Day

🌏Taking Action for Our Planet 🌏

Earth Day is a special day celebrated every year on April 22nd to remind us how important it is to take care of our planet. It’s a time when people all around the world come together to learn about the environment and take action—like planting trees, reducing waste, and protecting animals and nature. Earth Day helps us remember that even small changes, like recycling or using less plastic, can make a big difference for our Earth!

This Earth Day, our students have been learning about the importance of caring for our planet and taking action to reduce waste and protect the environment. Through discussions, research, and hands-on ideas, students have come up with a range of meaningful ways to make a difference in our school and community.

Some of their exciting initiatives include creating clear recycling signs to help everyone understand what can and can’t be recycled, and researching how to responsibly recycle larger items like chairs, tables, and PE equipment

They’ve also been exploring the problem of soft plastics, suggesting we hold nude food days and run cooking classes to reduce packaged snacks. Students are passionate about creating change and are encouraging families to use reusable containers instead of Ziplock bags and glad wrap which ends up in the bin.

To tackle food waste, students want to teach others how to compost properly by understanding the difference between green and brown scraps and how they work together to create the best possible compost for our gardens. Plans for a waste-free day or clean-up event are also underway.

It’s inspiring to see our young people so passionate about protecting the planet and leading positive change!
