Principal News

ANZAC day

Attending ANZAC Day is a deeply meaningful experience for our students, and this year’s great turnout was a powerful reminder of the respect and gratitude our school community holds for those who served. Seeing so many students participate with sincerity and pride was incredibly moving, and I couldn’t be prouder to be the principal of such a thoughtful and respectful school. Their presence not only honoured the sacrifices of past generations but also reflected the strong values we uphold together.

Peace Poles

Westernport and Hastings Rotary Club have provided us with an International Peace Pole to place in our new garden area. This peace pole is an International Symbol of Peace and it's origins stem from Japan after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in World War 2. The message 'May Peace Prevail on Earth' is referred to as an affirmation symbol of peace throughout the world. Many schools in our area have these peace poles including Westernport Secondary College. Our students will be engaging in some activities during Education week which includes a commemoration of this Peace Pole and will be attended by our Rotary benefactors.

Crazy Hair Day

Congratulations to our students, families and staff for their contributions to Crazy Hair Day. We saw many creative and colourful hair styles on the day. A huge thankyou to our families for supporting this day and raising money for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). The money we raised will be forwarded to this charity to assist with research to search for a cure and support children with CF.

Child Safe

Child FIRST and family services.  Child FIRST is an easily accessible, community-based point of entry for children, young people and families needing support.

Some families need  family services support when they are experiencing difficulties that impact on their parenting and family life. Child FIRST (Child and family information, referral and support teams) are the entry point into family services. Child FIRST teams are located in sites across Victoria and is delivered in your local area by community service organisations. Child FIRST, as the access point for family services, is progressively transitioning to The Orange Door.

What is the Orange Door?

The Orange Door is the new access point for women, children and young people who are experiencing family violence or families who need assistance with the care and wellbeing of children to access the services they need to be safe and supported. For more information, visit The Orange Door website. Family services aim to promote the safety, stability and development of vulnerable children, young people and their families, from birth to 17 years of age, by providing case work service and linking families with relevant support services. Anyone with a concern for a child or family wellbeing can make a referral to Child FIRST. Referrals can be made for vulnerable children, young people (0 to 17 years) and their families, including families with an unborn child. Support programs include:

  • Family Services
  • Early Parenting Centre Services
  • Cradle to Kinder

Mothers Day

As Mother's Day approaches, we want to take a moment to honour the incredible women in our school community. Whether you're a mom, grandmother, stepmom, guardian, or someone who fills a maternal role—you make a profound difference in the lives of our students.

Don't forget our mothers day stall on Thursday where children will have the opportunity to buy a gift for their special person.

Fundraising at BPS

This year we have raised $1348.45 from the following events:

  • Open day BBQ
  • Pancake Day
  • Easter Raffle
  • Term 1 special lunch
  • Ritchies Community Benefit.

After consultation with the student leadership team and our staff we plan to spend this money on new sandpit toys, outdoor equipment and storage for our junior school. There may also be a contribution to a fairy garden that we plan to install behind the art room. We will bring you photos and updates when these purchases have been made.
