ELC

At the ELC our focus in term one is to develop relationships with the children and families, to create calm and predictable rituals and transitions and to provide an engaging environment, full of fun experiences for children to explore. This method has proven successful, as we've noticed our young learners growing more comfortable and gaining confidence with each passing day.

We have a holiday program available at the ELC to our K3 and Pre-Prep learners, if you would like to book in your child for some learning through play over the holiday period please email  elcadmin@oakleighgrammar.vic.edu.au

Enjoy the school holidays and the Easter period with your family.

Lilly Pilly

The Lilly Pilly children had a fantastic time engaging in their Easter egg craft experience! With support and encouragement, they eagerly explored different colours and techniques, expressing their creativity through vibrant designs.

The children had so much fun experimenting with paint, mixing colours, and carefully decorating their Easter egg creations. Their excitement and concentration were evident as they added unique patterns and finishing touches.

It was a joyful and engaging activity that encouraged self-expression and fine motor skills. We can't wait to display their beautiful Easter eggs and celebrate their artistic achievements!

Harmony Day - This week in the classroom, the children engaged in a variety of exciting activities that sparked creativity, curiosity, and collaboration. A highlight of the week was our special Harmony Day project, where the children had their feet painted orange and joyfully walked across a large piece of fabric, creating a beautiful artwork. Laughter filled the room as they explored the sensory experience, and they proudly watched their footprints come together to form a symbol of unity. To complete the piece, a few children carefully printed the words We all walk together in harmony, adding a meaningful final touch. You can see this wonderful creation displayed in the Piazza—be sure to take a look!

ELC- Grevillea Class – We Belong!

The Grevillea class have been participating in Harmony week. Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

To demonstrate support for Harmony week the children were asked to add an orange element to their uniform and to bring a piece of orange fruit or veggies in their lunch boxes.

We began our week learning about the meaning of Harmony and what we can do to be in Harmony with others in our classroom. “Be Kind, Be Caring and Help others”, the children stated. We shared story books about the many people from around the world, some of which  have come to call Australia home.

We created a map of the world and the children were able to tell us where members of their families were born and we looked to see how far they had travelled to Australia and what mode of transport they may have used to get here. To celebrate how unique we all are, the children then created images of themselves which they added to their world, to represent their unity with their class peers and the world in which they belong.
