Senior School

Term 1 has come and gone so quickly which leaves only 2 full terms of teaching and learning for our Year 12 students. Scary, exciting, unknown are a few terms used by our final year students. To assist them with their preparation in anticipation for their SACs and final examination, we were pleased to have Success Integrated come and present in the Centre for Academic Excellence.
Success Integrated reinforced these ideas by looking at ways to change your mindset from a negative and fear based one to one that is confident and positive. This session also touched on time management skills and ways to make the most out of the little time you have. It provided students with an easy road map to achieve their B.E.S.T.
Year 12 Camp has been a real talking point amongst the cohort, with many highlights and good times had. It was a great opportunity for our students to relax and have some fun with their peers, before embarking on the busy term that has been.
Amidst all the work and preparation for assessments, our Year 12 students had their final House Swimming and Athletics which were also highlights for the term.
Upon return from camp, our students all received their Year 12 Leavers Jackets, something special and to be cherished for many years.
From Term 2 we will be issuing privileges for our Year 12 students so that they will be able to depart early at the end of their lessons. Should students access these privileges the way they are intended, we will look to issue another set of privileges mid Term 2. These are to slowly give students the experience of independence that they will have when they leave high school.
Plenty to look forward to these next two terms, however, for now I implore all our Senior School students to remain focused on their number one task at hand, giving their best effort at all they do at school and focusing on their work. Work hard and the merits of that work should come into fruition.

As we approach the last week of term one, we reflect on an action-packed start to the year that has kept our Year 10 and 11 students busy, engaged, and forming strong connections with their peers. From outdoor adventures to inspiring experiences, it has been a term filled with opportunities for growth and teamwork.
Our Year 11 students ventured to Torquay, where they embraced the waves with surfing and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). They also pushed their limits at the Live Wire Tree Course and Zipline, soaring through the treetops and tackling obstacles that required determination. The camp provided an incredible opportunity for students to bond while stepping outside their comfort zones.
Meanwhile, our Year 10 students immersed themselves in the natural beauty of Anglesea, where they participated in bushwalking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding. These activities encouraged teamwork, as students navigated new challenges and celebrated their achievements together.
Beyond outdoor adventures, our students were also inspired by stories of determination and success. Two of our Year 11 students, Tijana and Maria, had the privilege of attending the International Women’s Day Brunch at the Park Royal. They listened to an inspiring speech by Caroline Creswell, who at just 18 years old took a bold step in purchasing a small muesli business for $1,000. She has since transformed Carman’s into a globally recognized brand, proving that passion and perseverance can lead to extraordinary achievements.
As we wrap up Term One, we celebrate the friendships strengthened and the skills gained. It has been a fantastic start to the year, and we look forward to what Term Two has in store. Thank you to all students and staff who made these experiences so rewarding we can’t wait for more learning, adventures, and opportunities in the months ahead!
