Year 3/4 Community
Unit: Who Am I? Unlocking My Story.
This term, our Year 3/4 students have been on a journey of self-discovery in our Wellbeing unit, Who Am I? Unlocking My Story. As part of this unit, we unpacked the picture story book, “Who Am I?” Using this mentor text, students designed their own "lockers" using shoeboxes, decorating the outside with symbols that represent them—such as their name, favourite food, favourite animal, and other interests.
Inside their lockers, they included their role models and five things that they are grateful for, reflecting on the positive influences in their lives. Throughout the unit, students also explored the importance of understanding emotions, learning that it’s okay to feel different emotions and discovering strategies to manage them. They practiced identifying their feelings throughout the school day by writing personal diary entries and by helping them build emotional awareness and resilience. This hands-on and reflective unit has encouraged students to embrace their individuality, develop gratitude, and gain valuable tools for managing their emotions.
