From the Principal ...

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land we are gathered on and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.

Welcome back to Term 2!  I hope the break provided a chance for rest and renewal, and that your children will return with energy and curiosity for the term ahead. We are looking forward to a term full of learning, connection and community spirit.

Tomorrow, our Year 5/6 students are heading off on their school adventure camp, and returning Thursday. Camp is always a wonderful opportunity for students to build friendships, challenge themselves, and grow through shared experiences and team-based activities. We know they will represent our school with pride and enthusiasm. Thank you to the teachers, eduation support staff and parent volunteers who will be providing the children with 24 hour care and support while on camp.

We also take this opportunity to celebrate some impressive student achievements:

  • Will McG. recently participated alongside 160 children in the Victorian School Under 12s football trials. We’re thrilled to share that Will has been selected as one of just 20 students to progress to the next round! This is a fantastic recognition of Will’s commitment to personal growth and sporting excellence. Congratulations, Will - we wish you all the best in the next stage!
  • Kira K. has qualified for the State Schools Victoria Swimming Finals in Breastroke, an incredible accomplishment that reflects her hard work and determination in the pool. Well done, Kira - we are all cheering you on!

Forthcoming events this term:

  • Saturday 3 May 2025 – PTFA Election Day Sausage Sizzle & Cake Stall + Trash & Treasure Market. Held on Federal Election Day (3 May 2025 ) – come along to vote and support the school’s fundraising stalls.
  • Wednesday 7 May 2025 – Student-led Mother’s Day Stall. Students can purchase small gifts at school ahead of Mother’s Day (Mother’s Day 2025 is on Sunday 11 May).
  • Monday 19 May – Friday 23 May 2025 – State Education Week (Victoria). Education Week will be celebrated across Victoria during this week , with Cheltenham Primary kicking it off with the Pooch Party on Sunday 18 May in collaboration with our sponsor, Trevor Bowen from Ray While.  The focus of this year's State Education Week ‘Celebration of Cultures’, highlights the diversity of our communities and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school.

A reminder that next Monday 28 April is a pupil free Curriculum Day. Staff will be continuing their professional learning on this day with a focus on reporting against the new Mathematics 2.0 curriculum.  This is non school day for children. Camp Australia will be offering a day program for interested families.  Please contact Camp Australia if interested (see details in Community Notices).  The Primary Music Institute (Community Notices) is also running a promo for any families of students in Years 3 to 6  interested in learning an instrument.

Wishing everyone a great start to the term!

Kind Regards

Bronwyn
