On the 29th April, Courage to Care visited our school. The Year Fives were divided into different classes and given the opportunity to complete some small activities which included respecting others differences and not making assumptions based on gender, race, or religion. We also learned that stereotyping, prejudice, racism and discrimination are detrimental.
In the Year 5 & 6 classroom, we had a visitor who had survived the Holocaust. It was very interesting. The man informed us about all the hard times and struggles his family went through. He also talked about the courageous people that helped him through these horrible times. The moral of his story was to help people in need.
From this incursion, we learnt not to judge people by their differences, to be an upstander and have the courage to care.
