Inclusive Education Leader

Hi, I’m Jethro Kirby, the Inclusive Education Leader at Elsternwick Primary School. In my role, I work closely with staff and students to ensure every child feels safe, valued, and respected in all aspects of school life. I’m passionate about building a school culture where all students can thrive both academically and socially.
Each day, I run targeted small group sessions with selected students using the Smiling Minds program, which focuses on strengthening students’ Mental Fitness. These sessions are designed to help students build emotional awareness, resilience, and positive coping strategies to manage everyday challenges. Students are invited to join these groups based on discussions and collaboration with their classroom teachers, ensuring we are targeting the right support for each child’s needs. Later in the year, I’ll also be revisiting our previously used program called Social Stencil, which supports students in developing social confidence, navigating friendships, and understanding social cues in a safe and structured way.
Prior to joining EPS, I worked as a teacher in a mainstream school in Ballarat and held a leadership role for just under two years at a special school, where I gained invaluable experience in supporting students with diverse and complex needs.
While I’m always here to help, please remember that your child’s classroom teacher should be your first point of contact for any classroom-related concerns. I look forward to continuing to work alongside our dedicated staff and families to create the most inclusive environment possible for every student at EPS.
