Leanne Williams - Acting Principal
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to Term 2! We hope everyone had a restful and relaxing break.
We were very fortunate to begin the term with a Curriculum Day led by Diane Snowball, one of Australia’s most highly respected educators, alongside our Leading Teacher – Literacy, Sarah Fletcher. The day focused on exploring evidence-based approaches to teaching reading and how Elsternwick Primary School will be incorporating the revised English Curriculum 2.0.
At Elsternwick Primary School, we know how important clear communication is between school and home. To help ensure your queries reach the right person efficiently, we've outlined who to contact for different types of questions and concerns.
Start with the Office
For most general enquiries, it's best to begin by contacting the school office. They’ll help direct your query to the right person.📞 8534 6100

Your First Point of Contact – Classroom Teachers
For questions about your child’s learning, wellbeing, or classroom experiences, start with your child’s teacher. They are best placed to help with day-to-day matters like progress, friendships, and learning tasks.
For questions about your child’s learning, wellbeing, or classroom experiences, please begin by emailing their teacher or arranging a time to meet at a mutually convenient time.
Team Leaders – Supporting Consistency Across the Year Level
If your concern relates to more than one class (e.g. curriculum, inconsistent expectations, or behaviour across a year level), your Team Leader is the next step. Team Leaders ensure consistency and clarity across all classes within their year level and are a valuable contact for anything that impacts the whole cohort.
Leadership Team – Assistant Principal and Principal
The Assistant Principal is available for more complex matters, such as wellbeing concerns that persist across multiple settings, learning support access, or if you're unsure which support services are available. The Principal should be contacted for whole-school matters or if concerns haven't been resolved after speaking with teachers and the leadership team.
Helpful Reminders
Thank you for helping us maintain a respectful and efficient communication flow that supports all students. If in doubt, your child’s Team Leader is always an excellent contact point for broader year-level questions.
Lina (mother of Ava and Willow) and I warmly invite everyone to attend our inaugural Parent/Carer Connection Session – "Creating a Supportive Space for All."
This session offers an opportunity to connect, share experiences, and build understanding, especially for those caring for neurodivergent children and children with diverse learning and behavioural needs.
We look forward to welcoming you and creating a supportive community together.
Please see the below flyer for full details and an overview of our wonderful guest speaker, Anna Hoy.
The following policy has recently been updated to align with the Department of Education’s current templates and are available on our school website:
A warm welcome to Belinda B and Kristy D, who join myself, Bec M, Chrissy C, Diana T, Maddy M, and Rachel S on the Education and Policy Sub-Committee. We look forward to working together to support continuous improvement across our school community.
I look forward to welcoming Mr. Portaro back next week.
