Performing Arts

It’s been a very reflective two weeks in Performing Arts!
Foundation students have been reflecting on everything they’ve learnt this term, starting with the freeze frames from Little Red Riding Hood and ending with performances that included transformation of objects! They then drew a picture of their favourite activity in Performing Arts in their Arts Journals.
Year One students have reflected on their favourite parts of making Chinese Opera masks. Some students said they loved painting and decorating their masks. They also reflected on the challenging aspects of the unit, such as performing in front of an audience.
Year Two students have reflected on their Devising Drama unit this week. We guided student reflections with a series of questions, including - What are the different ways we have devised from a starting point? What has been your favourite way to devise and why? Students then spent the rest of the lesson writing their reflections in their Arts Journals.
Year Three and Four students have completed their creative process for their Non-naturalistic Drama performances as well as their reflections. Some classes even had enough time to create another performance in which they could improve their Non-naturalistic performance skills.
Here are some photos from their performances, showing how they use Transformation of Object.
Year Five and Six students have completed presenting their Improvised Drama Games to some Year One, Two and Three classes. They did a great job explaining their games to their younger audiences and managing their eager participants.
Wednesday Lunch Time Dance Club
We’ve had lots of fun at Dance Club this term! We’re currently working on a dance that we’re hoping to perform in a school assembly next term. Any students from Year Two to Six are welcome to join us in the Performing Arts Room on Wednesdays, straight after lunch eating time.
Wishing everyone a great holiday!
See you in Term Two!
