Year 3/4 Day Camp

Our Year 3/4 students participated in a Day Camp experience this week. With a short first week back, we thought it was a great opportunity to give students a unique camp experience.

Students spent Tuesday and Wednesday at Monopoly Dreams in Melbourne Central and Upper Plenty Conference Centre, completing camp-style activities such as rock climbing, flying foxes, tube slides, and geocaching. The camp concluded Thursday with a Pyjama Day at school with a disco, trivia, a movie, and BBQ lunch.

The feedback from students was that they all had a fantastic time. We want to send out a thank you to Ms Cummins and the Year 3/4 Team for all their hard work organising this special camp experience for our students.

More photos will be shared in the next issue of the 3/4 Learning e-Newsletters.

 Child Safe Standards &English 2.0

This week, our staff completed the annual Child Safe Standard training. The Child Safe Standards are vital for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children in our school community. These nationally recognised standards provide a clear framework to help schools create environments where children feel respected, valued, and protected. At WPS, we are committed to upholding these principles to foster a culture of safety, trust, and care, because every child deserves to learn and grow in a secure environment.

Staff also reviewed aspects of the revised English 2.0 curriculum. In particular, staff focused on identifying specific forms of assessment that will inform our decisions when assessing students against the Victorian Curriculum. This term, the school will undertake a significant amount of professional learning related to our revised Semester reports. We believe that our updated report formats will better inform parents and caregivers about where their child is excelling and what areas require further learning.
