Top Arts Excursion

Opportunities for students to participate in excursions allow for students to learn in different environments and greatly enhance the learning experiences. Recently, the VCE Art - Making and Exhibiting, and Art - Creative Practices students participated in an excursion to the Top Arts exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. The TOP Arts 2025 showcases an exemplar selection of Unit 3 & 4 student work from 2024. It was an incredible opportunity for students to gain insight, to be inspired and to research what previous students have done for their final artworks and how they have used their folio to record the art process. This was done through viewing of portfolios and final artworks and a talk organised by the NGV. Each year students report how helpful this excursion has been for them in helping them complete their folios.

The VCE Music students are also heading out at the end of this week to the Melbourne Recital Centre for the chance to view the top performances from 2024 exams. And early next term, the VCE Media students will go to ACMI for their opportunity.

Learning Behaviour Reports

Shortly parents and students will receive copies of the Term 1 Learning Behaviour Reports through SPACE. These reports are an opportunity for students to reflect on the way they have approached their learning in Term 1, and make adjustments to their behaviour and habits to ensure improved learning in Term 2. Each subject teacher has reported on how well students have followed the St Peter’s College R.O.C.K.S in their learning.

These focus on

Respect: Listening to the thoughts and opinions of others

Organisation: Arriving to class on time prepared to learn and meeting deadlines and due dates

Collaboration: Positive communication and collaboration in group work

Kindness: Allowing others to learns

Safety: Following teacher instructions

Parents will have the opportunity to discuss these reports and Term 1 learning at the Student Learning Conferences at the start of Term 2. This will be a time to discuss student successes and ways to improve. Parents are encouraged to have conversations with their child on receipt of the report to assist them in making goals for their continued learning in Term 2.
