Meet the Captains

Michelle Muchai
Social Justice Captain - Clyde North Campus
What do you see as your role as a student leader?
In my role as a student leader I see the opportunity to create an impact and to participate in my school community.
What is one of the positives about being a student at St Peter's College?
Out of the many positives in being a student at St Peters, the one that comes to mind is the wide range of learning opportunities and facilities available for us, from the diversity in subjects to inter school sporting opportunities, In other words there is something for everyone at St Peter's.
What are your goals as Social Justice captain in 2025?
As a Social Justice captain in 2025 I aim to improve the involvement in our social justice governed events. I intend to highlight the importance of giving when we can, and how much of an impact our school community is constantly making through our fundraising efforts. I also wish to bring forward the understanding that social justice is open ended, and that all students of the school can contribute their ideas for initiatives they want to see us implement within our school. Lastly I am hoping to be an inspiration and a model for the younger year levels to look up to, and I want them all to know they can be in my shoes.
Our College theme in 2025 is "Be the reason for hope" 1 Peter 3:15 - How will you live this statement through your leadership role?
To me, being a reason for hope means being a beacon of light in a time of darkness. Like Saint Francis of Assisi said “where there is darkness, light”. Being a reason for hope entails, taking on the role of not only a leader, but also the role of a listener in order to uplift the community, to the best of my abilities, especially in highlighting the light at the end of a tunnel in times that can make that difficult to see.

Social Justice Captain - Cranbourne Campus
What do you see as your role as a student leader?
As 2025 Social Justice Captain, my role is to be a voice for those who are unheard, to inspire action among my peers, and to uphold the values of compassion, service, and justice. I aim to educate and engage the school community on important social issues, lead initiatives that create positive change, and ensure that everyone at St Peter’s College feels valued and included.
What is one of the positives about being a student at St Peter's College?
One of the greatest positives of being a student at St Peter’s College is the strong sense of community and faith. We are part of a school that not only focuses on academic excellence but also encourages us to grow as compassionate individuals who live out the Gospel values. The support from teachers, students, and the wider school community makes it a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
What are your goals as Social Justice Captain in 2025?
In 2025, my goals as Social Justice Captain are to:
Strengthen awareness and engagement in social justice initiatives, such as fundraising, volunteering, and advocacy campaigns.
Create opportunities for students to serve the wider community, especially those who are marginalized. (through organisations such as Caritas Australia's Project Compassion)
Promote a culture of respect, inclusivity, and empathy within the school.
Inspire students to take action on global and local issues through education and active participation, through our Social Justice Club, and getting involved with initiates held at school!!
Our College theme in 2025 is "Be the reason for hope" (1 Peter 3:15) - How will you live this statement through your leadership role?
To “Be the reason for hope,” I will lead with kindness, integrity, and a commitment to justice. I will strive to uplift others, especially those who feel unseen or unheard, by advocating for fairness and supporting initiatives that bring real change. Through acts of service, community engagement, and fostering a spirit of inclusion, I hope to inspire my peers to be compassionate leaders in their own way, creating a ripple effect of hope throughout our school and beyond.
